Together we overcome gender based violence

Working together for an inclusive Europe.

The Society for Education on Contraception and Sexuality runs between July 1, 2021 – June 30, 2023, the project Together we overcome gender based violence, in partnership with Bacău County Center for Resources and Educational Assistance and Sex og Politikk. The project aims to reduce gender-based violence (GBV) among young people from poor backgrounds (rural or small urban) by raising awareness and increasing their capacity to identify, report and oppose GBV.

The specific objectives of the project are:

  • Increasing the capacity of at least 5 NGOs involved in the project to monitor public policies on violence / GBV in schools and to propose measures at local and national level to improve these policies, by the end of the project.

  • Increasing awareness and the ability to identify, report and oppose gender-based violence of at least 400 young people from rural and small urban areas in Ialomița and Bacău counties.

  • Developing the applicant's organizational capacity to communicate more efficiently and strategically with its target groups (especially young people).

In order to achieve the projects objectives, we carry out the following activities:

  • research on young people's perceptions, stereotypes and practices (the extent to which they identify, report and oppose GBV);

  • monitoring and identifying solutions for the implementation of public policies for the prevention of GBV with the help of the school;

  • training of project team members by Norwegian experts in GBV approach and intervention;

  • development of GBV intervention tools and their application in schools / high schools within pilot activities;

  • organization of GBV awareness networks at local level (Bacău and Ialomița counties);

  • carrying out advocacy actions for the prevention of GBV;

  • reactivation of the e-learning platform developed by SECS;

  • communication training for SECS staff and volunteers;

  • creating a friendly workspace for the beneficiaries and volunteers of the association.

The results we want to achieve by carrying out this project:

  • a consolidated monitoring report that will contain solutions and recommendations

  • a teacher / facilitator manual developed and culturally adapted

  • a GBV intervention / awareness board game developed and manufactured

  • an awareness brochure

  • 2 GBV awareness platforms

  • a local training session on GBV prevention organized in Bacău and Ialomița counties, attended by selected people from the two platforms

  • a policy paper with recommendations / proposals

  • a petition sent to the Ministry of Education

  • an online petition regarding the support of projects’ proposals 

  • a reactivated IT platform available for SECS target groups

  • a strategic communication training for SECS staff and volunteers

  • a communication strategy developed and implemented

  • a friendly workspace for the associations’ beneficiaries and volunteers created.
